Job Description
Mid-Level Animator
The Mid-Level Animator is responsible for delivering high-quality animation that brings characters, creatures, and objects to life with clarity and intent.
With strong fundamentals and a keen eye for performance, you create believable motion that supports storytelling across a range of projects. You balance creativity with efficiency, ensuring each shot meets both artistic vision and production demands.
Working closely with Leads and Supervisors, you take ownership of your shots while contributing to a collaborative, fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Shot Ownership
- Animate high-quality performances for characters, creatures, and objects across assigned shots.
- Take ownership of shots from layout through final delivery.
- Ensure consistency, polish, and alignment with creative direction.
Creative Execution
- Collaborate with Leads and Supervisors to achieve the desired creative vision.
- Contribute creative input to shot development and problem-solving.
- Occasionally provide reference, including performance or motion capture, to support animation work.
Production Workflow
- Participate actively in dailies, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
- Maintain productivity while meeting deadlines in a production-driven environment.
- Adapt to varying shot complexities, styles, and project requirements.
Collaboration & Growth
- Support and guide junior animators when required.
- Communicate clearly with team members and production.
- Continuously refine performance quality and animation techniques.
Qualifications
- 3โ5+ years of production experience in animation (VFX, film, or episodic).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong understanding of performance, timing, weight, and acting.
- Comfortable handling a variety of shot complexities and styles.
- Proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented approach.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in animation principles, acting, and body mechanics.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Maya or equivalent animation tools.
- Good understanding of cinematography, staging, and composition.
- Ability to interpret briefs and translate direction into compelling animation.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
